Tierra Nueva - New Earth

Tierra Nueva (New Earth) is an ecumenical ministry located in Burlington, Washington, that seeks to share the good news of God's liberation in Jesus Christ with people on the margins (immigrant, inmates, ex-offenders, the homeless) and mainstream people through its five ministries.

Tierra Nueva is dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of God's reign (on earth as it is in heaven) in solidarity with the oppressed for our mutual liberation, healing, empowerment, and total salvation.

We at Tierra Nueva are caught up in a vision of a shepherding ministry that seeks after lost sheep until they are found (Luke 15:4). We have consciously structured our ministries to:

• Seek after lost sheep until they are found--through Skagit County Jail Ministry, migrant chaplaincy, and Tierra Nueva Honduras.
• Care for, defend, and protect--through the Family Support Center.
• Gather, feed and heal--through our English and Spanish faith communities, bilingual jail services and healing services.
• Equip and send out--through the People's Seminary events and courses.

At the heart of Tierra Nueva’s mission is that mainstream people and those on the margins would hear and experience together the very Good News of God’s love and liberation in Jesus Christ.

Tierra Nueva’s training center, The People’s Seminary, offers courses related to reading the Bible & doing ministry with people on the margins.

Scholars & leaders from all over the world have come to teach and learn together at The People’s Seminary, together with farm workers, ex-offenders, & people who serve at the margins. Our desire is to see the body of Christ equipped by both the people themselves among who we minister and the academic community and church leaders committed to grass-roots ministry and mission.
